In one paragraph

Lamplands: Heroes of Ringhold is a roguelike for iPhone set on a miniature planet overrun by monsters. Players lead three heroes from around the world, retake 64 cities month by month, grow each hero's signature move through their upgrades, and stop the Source Heart before it wakes.

Description

Ringhold is a miniature world of rainy harbour towns, karst river valleys, red-earth kilns and frozen fjords, and the monsters have taken it one city at a time. Each month the player chooses where to land, which city to retake and whom to recruit; the cities they retake stay theirs.

Battles put one hero on the field with two ready to switch in. Players clear nests, retake siphon towers, turrets and relays, then wake the city's boss when they are ready, break its guard, chain their heroes in slow motion and finish it with one of eighteen duo finishers. Bosses belong to their region: krakens in the ports, beetles in the paddies and forests, mechs downtown, rhinos on the mesas.

Every run is different: heroes pick one of three upgrades as they level and their signature moves evolve to a final form, over 200 items stack into sets, and each continent's beast leaves a core behind. The world is drawn by a custom Metal renderer with tilt-shift depth of field, real-time shadows, weather and towns that light up at night.
